These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all services provided by Queensland Computer & Laptop Service Centres (“QCALSC”, “we”, “us”, “our”), including diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, data services, remote support, onsite work and warranty handling. By presenting a device or authorising work, you agree to these Terms.
1. Definitions
- Device: the desktop, laptop, AIO, peripheral or storage media presented to us.
- Customer/you: the device owner or authorised agent.
- Repair: any diagnostic, service, upgrade, replacement, data handling or configuration performed by QCALSC.
2. Bookings, Diagnostics & Quotes
- Local diagnostics fee: a non-refundable $65.00 fee is payable on booking. If you proceed with the quoted repair, we deduct this fee from the total.
- Quotes: are estimates based on available information at the time. Pricing may change where additional faults are discovered or part availability changes. We will seek your approval before proceeding with variations.
- No-fault / software-only issues: for warranty submissions, if no hardware fault is found, an administration/testing fee may apply. Courier/postage fees may also apply where relevant.
3. Data, Software & Settings
- Backups: Please back up your data before presenting the device. On request, we can attempt a backup/clone for an additional fee; however, no warranty is given that all data will be captured or recoverable.
- Wipes & reinstalls: diagnostics or repairs may require storage wipes, OS reinstallation or drive replacement. This can erase applications, emails, profiles, keys and custom settings.
- Privacy: our technicians do not browse your content except as strictly necessary to verify successful transfer or repair outcomes. See our Privacy Policy for details.
4. Parts & Repair Approach
- Repairs may use new, genuine/OEM, or refurbished parts according to availability and warranty conditions.
- For extended warranty claims, devices may be replaced with refurbished units of equivalent type and performance as determined by the warranty agent or supplier.
- Where aged plastics, adhesives or internal clips are brittle, minor cosmetic changes may occur during disassembly despite best practice.
5. Authorisations & Communication
- We accept instructions from the owner or an authorised representative (family member or business staff). We may request identification before discussing details.
- We will communicate status, approvals and changes via phone, SMS or email. Please ensure your contact details are accurate and monitored.
6. Payments, Collection & Uncollected Goods
- Payment: due on completion unless agreed otherwise. Devices may be retained until accounts are settled.
- Collection authority: only the owner or authorised person may collect the device.
- Uncollected goods: devices not collected within 30 days of notification may be recycled, disposed of or sold to recover costs after reasonable contact attempts.
7. Warranties & Remedies
- Manufacturer/retailer warranty: coverage is determined by the manufacturer/retailer and the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Approval timeframes are outside our control.
- Labour warranty: workmanship is warranted for a reasonable period for the specific repair performed. Physical/liquid damage, misuse or third-party tampering voids warranty.
- Exclusions: data backup/restore, software configuration and malware removal are not covered by manufacturer warranties unless explicitly stated.
8. Remote Support & Onsite Work
- Only allow a remote connection when speaking to our verified staff (call back on (07) 3209 4950 if unsure). You may end a session at any time.
- Onsite visits may carry call-out minimums and cancellation windows advised at booking.
9. Liability
- To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to resupplying the services or paying the cost of resupply.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of data, revenue, productivity or opportunity, except as required by the ACL.
- Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will be published on this page with the effective date above.
